If you know that you need new window coverings, but aren’t quite sure what you want, A New View’s recently renovated 5,000-square foot showroom can offer plenty of inspiration.

“A lot of people don’t know what they’re looking for, so they can come in and see hundreds of different displays and get an idea,” says Jamie Cockerill, who co-owns A New View with husband Cash. “Then we can lead them in the right direction based on their budget.”

A benefit of stopping by A New View’s showroom is that the products are built into displays and operational.

“People can feel them, touch them, open them and see all the color options,” Jamie Cockerill says. Step inside the conference and take a seat to research color samples and other product details. Once you know what you want, Cash Cockerill himself handles the home visits to take measurements and answers questions about the installation process.

When it comes to shutters and blinds, A New View stocks goods from La Palma-based Norman USA.

“We offer the whole line of Norman products for window coverings and we do have all of them on display as well,” says Jamie Cockerill. Those include shutters, roller shades, honeycomb shades, Roman shades and faux wood blinds. Shutters and roller shades are amongst the most popular items.

“Quality doesn’t have to be expensive with us,” says Rebecca Gloudeman of Orange County Shutters. “We have very high standards for quality and workmanship on shutters, but we want everyone to be able to afford it.”

Shutters are the bread-and-butter of this local business and Orange County homeowners often turn to them for contemporary looks, including flat panels, hidden tilts and Z-frames. But motorized shades are a growing portion of the company’s sales. In fact, Orange County Shutters recently brought in a new employee who specializes in this area.

“A lot of times, we’re mixing the shutters and the motorized roller shades or Roman shades,” says Gloudeman. For motorized shades, they work with Alta Window Fashions, whose products include shades that can be controlled by Alexa, Google Assistant or an app on your phone.

Cali Coast Shutters and Shades was founded just last year, but owner Rich Gloudeman has more than 15 years of experience, having previously worked at his family’s business, Orange County Shutters. Now building his own business with his wife, Gloudeman is focused on in-home consultations for folks in Orange County and southern Los Angeles County who are in need of shutters, shades or blinds. Make contact by phone or email and schedule a time for him to stop by loaded with samples.

“I want to be able to put these things in your windows to show you what they would look like in your windows,” he says.

The new company is also set on giving back to local communities, Cali Coast has collaborated with Huntington/Seal Beach Surfrider Foundation on a beach cleanup and donated roller shades to the Big Brother Big Sister office in Lakewood.
