DOWN NEARLY 32. SEPTEMBER IS HUNGER MONTH. AND IN HONOR OF THAT, THE WOLF HAS UPDATED SNAP BENEFITS, SNAP OR THE SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM HELPS PAY FOR FOOD FOR LOW INCOME HOUSEHOLDS. ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS ANNOUNCED THE CHANGES AT LANCASTER CENTRAL MARKET THIS AFTERNOON. STARTING OCTOBER 1ST, SNAP ELIGIBILITY WILL BE EXTENDED TO ALL HOUSEHOLDS EARNING UP TO 200% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY AND INCOME GUIDELINES. THE GROUP FEEDING PENNSYLVANIA SAYS MORE THAN 2 MILLION PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS EXPERIENCE HUNGER EVERY DAY. ANY OPPORTUNITY THAT WE HAVE TO RECOGNIZE THE CONTINUED OF FOOD, THE IMPACT THAT HAS ON A FAMILY. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf's administration announced an expansion to the state's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which is known as SNAP, last week.The change means an additional 420,000 Pennsylvanians will now be eligible for food stamps, according to the Department of Human Services.Starting on Oct. 1, the Pennsylvania will increase the income threshold for all applicants to 200% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines."Any opportunity that we have to recognize the continued cost of food, the impact that that has on a family.
