County Supervisor Killed in Pedestrian Accident near South A Street

OXNARD, CA (August 16, 2022) – Friday night, Carmen Ramirez was killed in a pedestrian collision on West Seventh Street.

The collision took place near South A Street around 6:40 p.m., on August 12th. Per initial reports, the incident involved a pedestrian and a 2020 GMC Sierra.

According to Oxnard Authorities, Ramirez was walking within a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a westbound Sierra on Seventh Street. Upon arrival, medics pronounced 73-year-old Ramirez dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the driver of the GMC Sierra was later described as a 38-year-old man.  Although, authorities have not yet released his name or place of residency.

A large portion of the roadway was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, no further information has been provided.
