Murray Ridge Center in Elyria and Your Turn Consignment have announced a fundraiser from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 to benefit the Murray Ridge Center, which also is known as the Lorain County Board for Developmental Disabilities.

“Consignors choose their price, mark their items for a 50% discount and donate if they do not want the unsold items returned,” according to a news release from Your Turn Consignment.

“One of our missions is community inclusion, and when we get an opportunity like this to have people we provide services to demonstrate their ability to contribute in a community event like this, it’s really important,” said Kevin Naughton, director of communications for the Murray Ridge Center.

Naughton also said that Murray Ridge is super grateful to Bridget Boardman, who represents Your Turn Consignment, for putting this event together.

Boardman found this model for a business during her time in the southern United States and was intrigued by the popularity of these sales in the south, he said

She has since returned to the Lorain area and has been slowly growing her business while having the opportunity to help people out, Naughton said.

Many of the volunteers who will help out are part of Murray Ridge Vocational Habilitation.

Those adult students will have the chance to use the skills they have learned in the vocational program by helping at the consignment sale.

The sale will take place at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 N. Leavitt Road in Amherst and will sell primarily infants and children’s clothing for the winter.

Consignment selling is where you bring your items to sell and you get a percentage of the sale, the release said.

There is going to be a presale and if you want to get the first crack at these great deals, it helps to be a consignor, volunteer or sponsor, according to the release.

There also limited presale VIP passes available for purchase, the release said.

The sale opens at 4 p.m., Sept. 30, and ends at 5 p.m., Oct. 2.

According to the mission statement for Your Turn Consignment, it provides a positive selling and shopping experience while encouraging community building and compassion for local charities.
