Kennedy Krieger holds fashion show fundraiser 'Fall Fête 4'
In what's called the biggest party night of the year at Baltimore's Green Spring Station, "The Fall Fête 4" is Kennedy Krieger Institute's fashion show for a cause.
It's not Mike Delia's day job, but on the runway, you'd never know.
"It's been a lot of fun. We get up there. It's a night that benefits Kennedy Krieger. We get really active and get really into it," Delia said.
Mikey Mohahan produces the event, which is a night replete with all the looks and trends from Baltimore's largest collection of boutiques. Spirits from some hometown brands benefit one of Baltimore's most-treasured resources, the Kennedy Krieger Institute.
Delia is not the only one in his family to strut down the runway. His son, Jackson Delia, is participating as well.
"I never really thought in a million years that I get to be a model," Jackson said, "Just to know that what I'm doing is going to benefit them, I feel so much better. It makes me feel better about what I'm doing for Kennedy Krieger."
Jackson will have plenty of company with patients, staff and family members getting dolled up for dollars, all going toward Kennedy Krieger, which provides services for children and adults with neurological, rehabilitative or developmental needs.
"It's so fun. I feel like there's a real camaraderie with all the models. They participate because they're just so excited, not only that they get to model, but also that they're supporting such a great institution in Baltimore," Monahan said.
Mike Delia, an educator by day at Kennedy Krieger's LEAP Program, will have his final look ready for the upcoming show, and he'll certainly get an "A."
The fashion show is set for 7 p.m. Friday. Supporters are encouraged to buy tickets in advance online here.
