Lehigh Acres man, 40, killed in Saturday morning hit-and-run crash; tips needed

A 40-year-old Lehigh Acres man died shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday when he was struck by a car that fled the scene.

The car was traveling south on Sunshine Boulevard, south of 47th Street West, in Lehigh Acres.

The pedestrian was riding his bicycle south on Sunshine Boulevard, along the west edge of the roadway.

The right front of car collided with bicycle, leading to the cyclist's death.

After the crash, the car fled south  on Sunshine Boulevard.

The car may possibly be a 2002-2006 Nissan Altima, silver, with right front damage.

Troopers ask anyone with information regarding this crash to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Crime Stoppers.

Tipsters may also be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000 in cash if their tip leads to an arrest.

This is at least the 80th fatality on Lee County roads this year.

The crash remains under investigation.
