Chatham man arrested on outstanding warrant for theft

Chatham-Kent police located a 37-year-old Chatham man accused of stealing from a St. Clair Street business in Chatham on Sept. 8.

Police said the accused allegedly entered the business and was seen removing products from shelves and leaving without any attempt to pay for them, resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.

The accused was arrested after being located by police just after 4 p.m. Sunday at a Michener Road address in Chatham.

He was charged with theft and possession of stolen property and later released with a Nov. 7 court date, police said.

DNA warrant

 A 22-year-old Chatham man wanted on DNA warrant was located by Chatham-Kent police just after 9 p.m. Sunday while investigating a matter on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned the accused was wanted on the warrant and he was arrested.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where the DNA warrant was fulfilled and he was released unconditionally, police said.

Impaired charge

A 61-year-old Windsor man is facing an impaired driving charge after Chatham-Kent police responded to a complaint of a vehicle being all over the roadway on Longwoods Road just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said an officer arrived in the area, located the vehicle and pulled it over.

The officer believed the man was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested, police said.

He was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests resulting in the accused being charged with a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released with conditions and an Oct 17 court date, police said.
