HAYWARD — A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a father and son were found dead inside a home over the weekend, authorities said.

In an initial statement, police said officers responded around 4:25 a.m. Sunday to a 911 call about an argument inside a home in the 100 block of Lund Avenue in the southern end of the city’s Jackson Triangle neighborhood.

When police arrived, they found two unconscious male victims suffering from multiple stab wounds. Other first responders arrived and provided emergency life-saving measures, but the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, police said officers arrested 22-year-old Oscar Josue Arevalo-Baquiax around 9:51 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of homicide.

Arevalo-Baquiax was held without bail at Hayward city jail and faces arraignment Wednesday at Dublin’s East County Hall of Justice, according to a county records check Monday afternoon.

Police also identified the victims only as a 49-year-old man and his 22-year-old son. Authorities said that the two were the city’s seventh and eighth homicides of the year.
