65 kegs of beer should be enough for a successful Oktoberfest
The line at the gate never got smaller at the Bartlett Oktoberfest Friday night at Leiseburg Park on Devon Avenue, according to organizers.
"I was so busy I didn't take any pictures," said Mary Smith, Bartlett Chamber of Commerce vice president. "We didn't know what to expect. It was the first Oktoberfest since 1998 or something."
With 65 kegs of beer and live music as a backdrop to the grilled bratwurst, it's no wonder it was a success.
O'Hare's Pub and More Brewing joined together to supply the beer, expecting that 65 kegs would be enough.
"We hope so. It's all we've got," said Peggy O'Hare Saturday afternoon. She owns O'Hare's Pub in downtown Bartlett.
More Brewing Company is based in Villa Park and will be opening a venue in Bartlett in February along with another in Huntley.
Friday's entertainment on the big stage was Bossy Dog. The Polkaholics opened the fest at noon on Saturday and DeJaVu closed out the festival Saturday night. The Rotary Club grilled ears of corn and the Lions Club grilled and served bratwurst.
