David Jones Bruce

David Jones Bruce, 74, of Barling, Arkansas passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 in his home. He was retired from the Fort Polk Fire Department in Louisiana, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Barling First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Iris Bruce; one son, Eric Bruce and wife, Audrae of Fort Smith; one sister, Gaye Bruce Loris of Leesville, Louisiana and one grandson, Austin Bruce of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hall Bruce, II.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, September 29 at Barling First Baptist Church with a private burial with military honors at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Eric Bruce, Austin Bruce, Hardy Royal, Roger Bullington, Tim Holland and Bobby Belt.
