Security guard mistakes drag queen for Lady Gaga and it’s hilarious

A drag queen has been mistaken for Lady Gaga… by the pop icon’s own security.

The mix up happened during the final show of Lady Gaga’s Chromatica Ball world tour on Saturday (17 September) at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

The show was forced to end early due to an incoming storm (clearly when Gaga sang “Rain On Me”, she didn’t mean that hard), leading to a fair amount of confusion.

One of these instances of confusion was the drag queen Penelopy Jean – who has since renamed her Twitter account ‘Dollar Tree Gaga’ – being mistaken for the Mother Monster herself.

The hilarious video, posted to Twitter by Jean has nearly 300,000 views and more than 20,000 likes, and is captioned: “The moment when security realised I wasn’t Gaga”, accompanied by a laughing emoji.

In the video, it appears the crowd has had the same thoughts as the security guard and Penelopy Jean can be seen saying: “I’m a drag queen!”

She repeats the statement and then turns around, much to the shock of the security guard, who gives an expletive filled reaction, complete with a (hilarious) confused face.

In another video posted on Twitter, Penelopy Jean is filmed  making her way through a shocked group of fans.

The Twitter user wrote: “Last Chromatica Ball getting cut short from lightning… fans singing ‘Rain On Me’ in the pouring rain and clapping thunder.. fans thinking Dollar Tree Gaga is the real thing… oh this last show is so camp.”

In true Twitter fashion, the memes have come in thick and fast.

Including one from Domino’s Republic of Ireland.

Gaga has apologised for cutting her final show short, posting on Twitter: “I love you little monsters, forever xoxo, Mother Monster #WeLoveYouGaga #ChromaticaBallMiami I’m sorry I used my best judgment, it wasn’t safe.”

In true Little Monster fashion, fans stayed in the stadium despite Gaga telling them to leave. As they felt the thunder coming down they well and truly let it rain on them.

Gaga has recently unveiled a new foundation range with her beauty brand Haus Labs, with fans praising its inclusivity.
