Jason Greer, GeekWork managing director.

GeekWire is expanding with the launch of a new business unit focused on technical recruiting, led by respected Seattle entrepreneur Jason Greer, a technical recruiting veteran who previously co-founded software development and tech commercialization firm GenUI.

The new business unit will expand on our tradition of connecting members of the Pacific Northwest tech community in a variety of ways, including news coverage and events.

In this case, we’ll be creating connections to help developers and engineers find rewarding and fulfilling technical roles, and to help companies hire and retain top technical talent.

We’re calling the business GeekWork, and we’ll be sharing more details about our plans during the 2022 GeekWire Summit, on Oct. 6-7 in Seattle. (Full agenda and tickets here).

In addition to announcing our exclusive corporate and agency partners, we’ll share our unique approach to helping businesses with their technical recruiting, one of the most vexing challenges that many companies face.

On the subject of recruiting top-notch talent, we’re proud to announce Jason Greer’s role as managing director in charge of building and running this new initiative.

A native of Missoula, Mont., and a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Jason is an accomplished business leader, angel investor, non-profit board member, cancer survivor, author, musician, husband, and father of 3-year-old twin girls.

In 2019, he was named a finalist from the Pacific Northwest in EY’s national Entrepreneur of the Year program, in part for his work in creating a unique internship program for software developers from El Salvador, an initiative that GeekWire wrote about that year.

Jason built a fast-growing recruiting business during his time at GenUI. His scrappy approach to entrepreneurship, his community values, and his philanthropic bent are a great fit for GeekWire.

“After reading GeekWire almost daily since moving to Seattle, I was thrilled to join the team,” he said. “I’m excited to connect GeekWire readers looking to hire with those looking for the right new opportunity. The response GeekWork has already received from the Seattle community is so appreciated, and we’re eager to get to work supporting the program’s inaugural partners.”

“Hiring a new team member into the right role has been one of the most rewarding things in my career thus far — it’s great for everyone, all around, when you help someone find the right fit. At GeekWire, and through our GeekWork program, I now get to do this on a much larger scale,” he said.

Please join us in welcoming Jason to the team, and join us next week in-person or online at the GeekWire Summit to learn more about this new effort to connect the community. Want to learn more about GeekWork and connect with Jason? Email him at jason@geekwire.com.
