Tottenham predicted lineup tonight: Conte leaves Spurs ‘warrior’ on the bench

Tottenham Hotspur face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League tonight as Antonio Conte looks to bounce back in more ways than one.

Firstly, Tottenham lost 3-1 away at North London rivals Arsenal on Saturday afternoon and must come up with a response this evening.

Secondly, Tottenham’s last Champions League outing ended in a disappointing 2-0 defeat away at Sporting as Spurs leaked two late goals.

A win in Germany tonight would be huge for Tottenham and Conte may need to make changes after that defeat to Arsenal.

Tottenham predicted lineup v Eintracht Frankfurt

Hugo Lloris dropped a bit of a clanger for Arsenal’s second goal on Saturday but it’s unlikely that he will be dropped in favour of Fraser Forster.

Eric Dier and Cristian Romero are key parts of the Tottenham back three and will surely keep their spots in the team for tonight’s game.

Ben Davies has been nursing an injury of late and wasn’t even on the bench against Arsenal on Saturday, so it’s unlikely that he will start this game.

That means Clement Lenglet looks set to continue as the left-sided centre back for Tottenham.

Emerson Royal was sent off against Arsenal but he is able to face Frankfurt and we’re backing him to do so.

Antonio Conte doesn’t seem totally sold on Matt Doherty or Djed Spence right now and with Ivan Perisic likely needed as the right wing back to cover for Emerson in the Premier League, the Brazilian should start here.

Over on the left side, Perisic may well be given a rest as he prepares to cover for Emerson, so Ryan Sessegnon may come in.

Hailed as a ‘warrior’ by Andy Townsend, Perisic will always make himself available but this might be a good time to drop him to the bench for a game.

Yves Bissouma wasn’t fully fit to start against Arsenal and it would be a big ask to start here, so it should be Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur in midfield again.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are likely to start and we’ll back Richarlison to keep his place in the team with Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura both out injured.

That would leave the likes of Forster, Davinson Sanchez, Perisic, Bissouma, Oliver Skipp and Bryan Gil among the substitutes for Tottenham tonight.

Tottenham predicted lineup v Eintracht Frankfurt: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Sessegnon; Richarlison, Son, Kane.
