About Kings Beach
Kings Beach is one of the more densely populated areas of Lake Tahoe. It is located on the North Shore just after the border between Nevada and California. It's a very walkable town with shops, restaurants and tons of hotels to choose from. Of course, the main reason for going to Kings Beach is…well…the beach. The beach at Kings Beach is public and a popular spot for picnics, swimming and kayaking. It is also wonderful in the winter since the sand gets a lot of sunshine.
See & Do
The town of Kings Beach is a popular spot for the summer crowds and most of them are heading to the Kings Beach State Recreation Area to do some easy shore swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and paddleboarding. You can rent kayaks or paddleboards at Adrift Tahoe or Tahoe Paddle & Oar. If you want a birds-eye view of the lake, try some parasailing over the water with North Shore Parasail.
Eat
Kings Beach caters to the summer crowds with a few delis and burger places, but a few locals favorites are your best bet for all your meals. For breakfast try the Blue Onion their crepes or Eggs Benedict, for lunch head to Caliente! for some great margaritas and tacos and for an afternoon snack try the Log Cabin Cafe & Ice Cream for a waffle cone. For dinner, try the Italian delights at Lanza's where you will meet other locals who can tell you about the area's nightlife.
Party
There are not too many nightlife areas around Kings Beach, but many locals agree that Steamers is a great place to get a later dinner and hang out and chat with a beer.
Stay
Kings Beach has some smaller motels and cabins and most of them are the best value on the lake.
Shop
The main tourist area of Kings Beach has several gift shops and one of the best is Jai Yen Treasures. This unique little shop sells beautiful items from Thailand and Vietnam. There is also a small tea garden where you can order some tea and relax in the shade of the pine trees with the nearby sound of water.
