Reader Opinion: Vote for Ward

The last few years have taught our nation's students and educators alike that empathy, grace and grit can get us through the hardest of times; these are the same pillars that Mr. Ward echoed

Stack of newspapers on a laptop computer.

I first met Mr. Ward as my service learning teacher when I was a freshman at BHS in 2005. His class was the first I had ever taken that emphasized and embedded the philosophy of “paying it forward” into his curriculum, and it is also one of the few classes throughout my academic career that still resonates in my daily life today. It was Mr. Ward’s mentorship that led me to pursue a career in teaching, and he acted as a personal reference for me eight years later when I applied for my first job as an English teacher. The last few years have taught our nation's students and educators alike that empathy, grace and grit can get us through the hardest of times; these are the same pillars that Mr. Ward echoed as an educator and will continue to echo as a school board member. Please consider voting Ward!
