A phlebotomist working in Aliso Viejo was arrested this week on suspicion of sexually assaulting women while they were giving blood, authorities said.

The 29-year-old San Juan Capistrano man was taken into custody Wednesday, Sept. 21, for suspected battery while employed at a medical laboratory in Aliso Viejo, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The name of the lab was not provided.

The suspect was cited and released.

On Aug. 29, an 18-year-old woman reported she was assaulted in a sexual manner while giving blood at the laboratory. On Sept. 20, a 30-year-old woman filed a similar report of assault while having her blood drawn. No further details were available.

The man’s access to patients led investigators to believe there may be additional victims.
