Anthony Sacco

Anthony James Sacco, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, died Thursday, September 8, 2022, at his home. He was born on June 21, 1967, in Wallace, Idaho, to the late Donald Frank Sacco and Joyce Ann (Flood) Sacco. He was 55 years old. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie F. Sacco and a sister, Connie L. Decker.

Anthony joined the United States Army on June 24, 1984, and was discharged in April of 1988. He then joined the United States Air Force National Guard in Spokane, Washington, and then served in the Air National Guard in Fort Smith for over 18 years. During this time, Anthony served in the Gulf War and also Operation Enduring Freedom. During Anthony's service, he completed two tours of duty in Iraq with the 188th Fighter Wing.

Anthony was employed at the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office as the Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division where he proudly served the citizens of Sebastian County and the State of Arkansas. Anthony began his career with the sheriff's office at the Sebastian County Detention Center in December of 1996 where he served for four years prior to his promotion to the patrol division. He was later promoted to the Criminal Investigation Division as a narcotic investigator where he served for eight years. Anthony was then promoted to Sgt. in the Criminal Investigation Division where he continued to advance in his career receiving a promotion to Lieutenant before becoming a Task Force Officer with the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency). He served in this role for five years prior to being promoted to Captain and Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division.

Anthony had a hard fought battle with cancer. He was a true American Patriot, an avid Razorback fan, and loved all things Rock-n-Roll. He had many friends and loved his family very much. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 13th at Community Bible Church in Fort Smith, with Deputy Aaron Nickson (Pastor) and Sheriff Hobe Runion officiating. Burial, with honors provided by the Sebastian County Sheriff's Honor Guard Team, will be at 12:00 p.m. at Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Deana (Fry) Sacco; a step-daughter, Kala Hicks and husband Britt of Charleston; a step-son, Zach Lewis and wife Amanda of Lavaca; two brothers, David Sacco and Tim Sacco and wife Evitte, all of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Emmie Hicks, Luke Hicks, Jackson Davis and Gavin Davis; a god-daughter, Reese Place; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Capt. John Miller, Lt. Robert Crouch, Sgt. Darrell Miner, Sgt. Mitchel Scharbor, Sgt. Cody McConnell, and Cpl. Coby Miner.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 12th at the funeral home in Charleston.
