Southall Travel joins Air France KLM sustainable aviation fuel scheme

Southall Travel has become the first company in the UK trade to join the Air France-KLM corporate sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) programme.

The measure is seen as making a further step towards reducing the CO2 footprint of air travel.

The corporate SAF programme allows Air France-KLM to partner with organisations to accelerate the production and usage of SAF.

Southall Travel will actively support the transition from the use of conventional fossil fuel to SAF throughout 2023 with the partnership and contribute to addressing the global ecological challenge of the aviation industry.

Air France KLM UK and Ireland general manager Fahmi Mahjoub said: “I am very excited to welcome Southall Travel as the first company in the UK to join our corporate SAF programme.

“This is a major step forward in addressing our sustainability challenge as an aviation company by partnering with a UK business to help the environment.

“Today marks the start of a new level of co-operation across the industry and we hope that this news helps spread the awareness in the UK and that more companies will join us in making SAF more readily available around the globe.”

Southall Travel chief commercial officer Jaymin Borkhatria added “This is a valuable opportunity for us to support and create awareness for the corporate SAF programme and its important cause.

“We are excited to be part of this important initiative to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to more sustainable ways to travel.”
