Can Shuppet Be Shiny in Pokémon Go?

Pokémon Go is home to a wide variety of different Pokémon, and the Ghost-type Shuppet is one of the most intriguing. Shuppet was the most recent Pokémon during the game's Spotlight Hour, which happens every Tuesday in Pokémon Go.

This Spotlight Hour was special in that there was a surprise Zorua spawn that was supposed to occur after Spotlight Hour. Unfortunately, due to a series of bugs, Zorua did not spawn disguised as a Buddy Pokémon, but Shuppet was still readily available this time.

Shuppet is a uniquely weird Pokémon that's perfect for the Halloween season, as it can eat negative emotions. It also evolves into the strange-looking Banette, a possessed stuffed toy. Banette can Mega Evolve, and if you collect enough Shuppet Candy, you'll have a powerful Mega Banette at your disposal.

Shuppet's in pretty high demand, as you might imagine. So players are wondering: Can Shuppet be Shiny in Pokémon Go? We've got all the answers you're looking for. And hopefully you've got a Shuppet to add to your collection.

Can Shuppet Be Shiny in Pokémon Go?

The short answer is yes, Shuppet can be Shiny in Pokémon Go. So can its evolutionary form, Banette. Both Pokémon have appeared yearly in Pokémon Go ever since October 2017 as special additions to the game's Halloween events. You can evolve your Shuppet into a Banette using 50 Candy, or you can look around for both while exploring the real world.

Shuppet's Shiny form initially launched in 2017 a few days after the original Pokémon did, on Halloween. You can identify a Shiny Shuppet by its teal shades. The original Shuppet is dark blue. So if you're looking around for a Shuppet and you see one with a slightly different shade, you may very well be looking at a Shiny. Banette can also be Shiny, and will appear with a lighter pink shade as well.

It's important not to let Shiny Pokémon out of your sight. They're extremely rare, and if you don't catch one when you have the opportunity, there's no telling when you might be able to find another. As such, you'll want to keep your eyes open and pounce the instant you think one may have crossed your path. Shiny hunting is a popular pastime in Pokémon Go and the core Pokémon games, and finding them never gets old.

Pokémon Go is available to play on iOS and Android for free right now.
