Florida voters head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the 2022 general election.

Among high-profile statewide and federal races up for vote, Gov. Ron DeSantis faces off against Democratic challenger and former governor Charlie Crist, while Sen. Marco Rubio looks to retain his congressional seat against Democrat Val Demings.

Hurricane Ian caused significant damage in Southwest Florida, disrupting the midterm election in a heavily-Republican region.

Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order to provide flexibility for elections officials in Lee, Charlotte and Sarasota counties.

When do polls open and close on Election Day?

Polling locations in Florida are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast their ballot.

Can I register to vote on Election Day in Florida?

Florida does not allow same-day voter registration. The deadline to register to vote is 29 days prior to the election. For the Nov. 8 general election, the last day to register was Oct. 11.

Do I need ID to vote today?

To vote in Florida, you must present a valid photo ID with signature. Here's what's accepted:

  • Florida driver’s license
  • Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • United States passport
  • Debit or credit card
  • Military identification
  • Student identification
  • Retirement center identification
  • Neighborhood association identification
  • Public assistance identification
  • Veteran health identification card issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs
  • License to carry a concealed weapon or firearm issued pursuant to s. 790.06
  • Employee identification card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the Federal Government, the state, a county, or a municipality

According to the Florida Division of Elections, you can still vote on a provisional ballot if you don't bring proper ID. As long as you are eligible and voted in the proper precinct, your provisional ballot will count, provided the signature on your provisional ballot matches the signature in your registration record.
