47, LEESBURG. 47, FLAGLER. WE ARE SEEING A LOT OF WIND AND NOW WE ARE WATCHING THESE POWER OUTAGES. EVEN THOUGH THE STORM HAS WEAKENED, YOU ARE STILL SEEING THESE RIPPLES OF GUSTS. WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO ADD TO THESE POWER OUTAGES OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS AS THE GUSTY WEATHER CONTINUES. MAYBE A TREE NEEDS ONE MORE HIT TO COME DOWN, A BRANCH. 22% OF BREVARD COUNTY IS WITHOUT POWERED OVER 71,000 RESIDENTS. ORANGE COUNTY, 3% BUT 21,000 RESIDENTS WITHOUT POWER. WE HAD TO VOLUSIA POWER -- WE HAD TO VOLUSIA COUNTY WHERE WE HAVE 19,000 RESIDENTS WITHOUT POWER. A LOT OF CENTRAL FLORIDIANS HAVING TO DEAL WITH THIS SCENARIO. THE GOOD NEWS IT IS MUCH LOWER SEEMINGLY POWER OUTAGE WISE VERSUS IAN. EVEN THOUGH THE WIND ARE EQUAL, IF NOT HIGHER IN SOME SPOTS. WE ARE WATCHING THAT SPIN. WATCHING THE WORST OF THE WEATHER IMPACT OUR NORTHERN AREAS. EVEN WHEN THE RAIN STARTS TO FADE AND YOU ARE ON THE BACKSIDE, KNOW THAT THE GUSTS WILL STILL CONTINUE. Central Florida counties facing power outages due to Tropical Storm Nicole
Thousands of power outages have been reported across Central Florida as Tropical Storm Nicole moves through. As of 6:30 p.m. Florida Power and Light estimated the following amounts of their customers without power in different counties: Volusia County: 9,020 customers with no power out of 190,250 Brevard County: 53,320 customers with no power out of 331,250Seminole County: 3,770 customers with no power out of 60,520 Flagler County: 5,020 customers with no power out of 67,390 "Nicole continues to impact the state, but our restoration is well underway," FPL President and CEO Eric Silagy said in a statement. "During the height of the storm in the southern part of Florida, when crews were unable to travel safely, our smart grid technology was working to restore power remotely. Now, in the areas where winds are below 35 mph, our teams are out in full force, conducting critical damage assessments and restoring power."Duke Energy reported about 45,786 total customers with no power.According to Orlando Utilities Commission, they had approximately 12,099 of their customers with no power.
