As the saying goes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And it appears TripSavvy agrees.

In mid-October, the travel website announced the winners of its fifth annual Editors’ Choice Awards, honoring the top destinations and businesses across travel and hospitality around the world. In total, the awards cover 18 categories, including Best for Family, Best for Outdoor Enthusiasts, and the all-important Best for Brunch category.

The winners, the team explained in a statement, were selected following a mix of machine learning and human vetting that whittled down more than 60,000 contenders to just a few lucky spots. (Learn more about how the winners are selected here.) That includes its Best for Brunch list, which clocks in with just six stellar winners.

“No mealtime is as revered as brunch. Its followers relish in spicy Bloody Marys, crispy bacon, and fluffy pancakes, lining up at trendy restaurants on Saturday and Sunday mornings to get their fix,” TripSavvy shares on its website. It added, the list combines traditional favorites with several regional hotspots known to turn things up on Sunday mornings.

Winners include B&B Sei Stelle, a charming guest house in the town of Abruzzo, Italy. While the rooms are cozy, it’s the meals that matter. As TripSavvy shared, “At breakfast guests are treated to a variety of homemade cakes, local meats and cheeses, as well as traditional ferratelle, a kind of local pancake made in an intricate iron mold.”

Another lodging option to make the list is The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. TripSavvy noted, guests of the hotel and visitors alike should visit for brunch at the on-site restaurant, Lemaire, which “offers Southern-inspired food with a flair and uses local ingredients, but the Sunday Champagne brunch is the real showstopper.”

Restaurant winners included Cranky Al's in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, which won for its sweet treats like Nutella-filled doughnuts and maple-bacon long johns, and La Sombra del Sabina in Morelos, Mexico, which earned its spot for its “extensive menu of tasty dishes, treats, and daily specials.”

Rounding out the list is Shirley Heights Lookout Restaurant and Bar, located in English Harbour Town in Antigua, which made its way to the winner’s circle thanks not only to its delightful brunch but also for its stellar azure water views, and TibbittsFernHill in Tacoma, Washington, which gained its win thanks to its focus on locally sourced ingredients.

“We know that trip planning can be a daunting task and these awards are sure to help our audience of avid travelers find the best places to go and things to do,” Laura Ratliff, TripSavvy’s senior editorial director, said in a statement provided to media.
