Suspect in Bellevue, Seattle carjackings arrested by Kent police

One person was reportedly shot in the leg in Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood.

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Kent police arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for at least two armed carjackings in King County on Monday.

According to police, the first carjacking occurred at Bellevue Square around 12:30 p.m. when the suspect shot at a victim and stole her purse and vehicle.

The victim was not injured.

After driving away, the suspect was involved in two minor hit-and-run crashes on the State Route 520 Bridge.

It is believed the suspect drove to Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood, where the suspect shot a 38-year-old man in the leg and stole his vehicle.

The shooting was reported just before 1 p.m. near Eastlake Avenue East and East Lynn Street, according to Seattle police.

The suspect was located parked at a business at the 6400 block of South 212 Street. Officers laid down spike strips to slow down the vehicle as the suspect attempted to drive out of the parking lot.

The suspect was eventually arrested without incident. They were in possession of a stolen firearm, according to Kent police.

Within about two hours of the carjacking in Bellevue, Kent police arrested the suspect in Renton.

It is believed the suspect was responsible for a carjacking in Kent earlier in the morning, according to police.
