2023 Polk Senior Games schedule set

The dates are all set for the 2023 Polk Senior Games.

Officially, the games will be Feb. 25 to March 11 with games that will offer a two-week series of athletic and recreational Olympic-style events for men and women who are 50 and over. The talent pool will be comprised serious competitor, the fun at heart, the season-athlete, the late bloomer and the physically challenged.

The purpose of the games will be to promote an active lifestyle, promote friendly competition, fellowship, health and wellness and volunteerism.

The following events will be held throughout Polk County: archery, basketball shooting, basketball 3-on-3, billiards, bocce, bowling, bridge, chess, cribbage, ballroom and social dancing, darts, euchre, field events, fishing, golf 18-hole singles, mixed doubles and putt-and-chip, horseshoes, lawn bowling, pepper, pickleball, punt pass kick, racquetball, road race 5k, scrabble, senior smarts, shooting (pistol, rifle, skeet, sporting clays and trap), shuffleboard, softball, sudoku, swimming, table tennis and track and walking.

Each event and age division will be awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals.

Registration is set to begin the first week of January. Individual entry fees are $12 for the first event and are $5 for each additional event with a maximum of $37. The team fee for softball is $125. Some events have a facility fee, and everyone receives a specially designed T-shirt.
