NBA players have more than the physical damage of an injury to recover from when they get back on the court. On top of the more obvious physical aspect of the harm their body experienced that must be rehabilitated adequately ahead of a return to action, there is also a mental component.

Such was the case for veteran Boston Celtics big man Blake Griffin, whose career in the league nearly ended not only from the impact of a steady stream of injuries, but also from the psychological weight of the pressure such injuries can cause a player as they work on recuperating.

Speaking to the eponymous host of the “In Depth with Graham Bensinger” show, Griffin broke down how his own experience with injury changed the course of his career — and the ways he discovered to get through the flagging mental health he had as a result of such serious injuries.
