Dragon Ball movies are known to not have achieved the canon stamp for existing in the canonical universe of Dragon Ball; luckily for Dragon Ball's newest movie though, it all exists in canon! Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was released in theaters and surprised fans with a heavy change in animation, and a plot that continuously gives Dragon Ball fans what they want most. One of those wants is Gohan finally utilized as he was in the Cell Saga.

The action-oriented movie had a heavy nostalgic feel to it, as it repeatedly used ideas derived from past Dragon Ball shows. The Red Ribbon Army was once again the main villain in the story, just like way back in the first adaptation of Dragon Ball, and the show used multiple characters to help fight back against the villains, like Piccolo, Krillen, and Android 18. Throughout the entirety of the visibly-pleasing movie, there were countless moments that will live forever in the hearts of die-hard Dragon Ball fans.

10 Gotenks' Failed Fusion

Trunks and Goten both make their appearance on-screen when they arrive to help Piccolo and Gohan fight back against the Red Ribbon Army. Fans will immediately notice their growth difference in comparison to Super, and Piccolo notices as well.

The two then attempt to fuse into Gotenks, but their fusion is unsuccessful, and they turn into a fat version of their fusion. Although they didn't put much up of a fight, they brought comedy to fans in dire moments and did help out by exposing a crack atop Cell Max's head.

9 Piccolo The Babysitter

In the early parts of the movie, Piccolo stands out to be a lead character, which many fans would agree is widely beloved. He's seen training Pan just like he did her father, but clearly, he's taking it easier on the little Pan.

Eventually, when she's off to school, Videl calls up Piccolo and asks him if he can pick Pan up from school. The way Piccolo replied implies that he does this fairly often, and even is on a first-name basis with Pan's teacher! Piccolo fans all alike love this dynamic between Piccolo and Gohan's family.

8 Pan Fights Back

After Piccolo disguises himself as a Red Ribbon Army soldier and volunteers to help "kidnap" Pan from her school, Pan meets the soldiers with unexpected force. She makes easy, quick work of the Red Ribbon Army soldiers, disposing of them as if they were nothing but garbage.

She leaves Piccolo alone, as she senses his familiar energy. Pan then turns back into her sweet self to Piccolo, asking him what's going on, and the brilliant duo run off in a scheme against Pan's father.

A disguised Piccolo and a Red Ribbon Army soldier arrive at Gohan's house to tell him that his daughter has been taken hostage. Right after the soldier pulled a gun on Gohan, Gohan effortlessly flicks it away, much to the fan's expectations and laughter.

But once Gohan gets word that his daughter was kidnapped by the evil army, he quickly shows no reluctance to destroy part of his home in a rage of surging ki, blowing up the ground below him. This is exactly what Piccolo wanted, and funny enough, the fans as well.

With the rainy atmosphere, an outnumbered, angry Gohan, and a Cell Max awaiting to be freed, the entire scene feels tense. Fans get to watch Gohan work through his rage against the Red Ribbon Army, and easily dispose of soldiers. Just like his father, he fights back against the army.

Although the fight was heavily hindered by Whis, Vegeta won against Goku for one of the first times in the entirety of the franchise, and his new way of combat may shine light on a new Vegeta in the future. Vegeta fans will agree that it was nice seeing Vegeta win over Goku for once.

4 Piccolo's New Transformation

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Orange Piccolo

Piccolo, in a desperate attempt to stop the Red Ribbon Army, uses the newly upgraded Dragon Balls to wish himself unlocked potential, much like Guru did for Gohan back in the Frieza Saga. After receiving this newfound power, Piccolo states that he's never felt more powerful, but little does he know how much power he has.

While fighting one of the Gamma androids, Piccolo finally awakens a new transformation that Shenron granted him, is back glows with power upon a symbol, and Piccolo transforms into what has been dubbed, Orange Piccolo.

3 Gamma 2's Sacrifice

Piccolo eventually gets through the Gamma android's heads and gets them to finally understand that the Red Ribbon Army was using them. After the Gamma's turn to the true heroes' side, they help the Z Fighters fight Cell Max.

Gamma 2, after being told that Cell Max's head was the weak spot, flies very far up and starts to utilize an all-out attack to destroy Cell Max. Cell Max was able to block it in time, but his arm was blown off. Gamma 2 sacrificed himself to help save the world, and that made him a true superhero.

2 Gohan's Special Beam Cannon

Gohan eventually unlocks a new transformation as Piccolo did, and shows immense newfound strength. Piccolo holds Cell Max down and tells Gohan to attack while he has the chance. Back in the Cell Saga, Gohan destroyed Cell by using his father's signature attack, and now while fighting Cell Max with Piccolo, he charges up a Special Beam Cannon, and uses that to destroy this Cell.

It's a nice understanding from Gohan that Piccolo taught him pretty much everything there is to know when it comes to fighting. The two have a great relationship.

1 Gohan's Beast Form

As most fans would agree, Gohan finally getting the plot spotlight that he deserves was much appreciated. Not only that, but Gohan got a new transformation, one that may rival Goku and Vegeta. After watching his mentor get mercilessly beaten by Cell Max, Gohan undergoes a rage-derived transformation, much like he did while fighting Cell back in the Cell saga.

Gohan transforms into a brand-new form, which has been called Gohan's Beast Form. The new transformation looks very cool and gives Gohan yet another unique feature that makes him stand out from his father.
