Therefore, a launch event was arranged by The Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture to launch “Book of Trends and Direction of Thai Fabrics, Volume 3 (Thai Textiles Trend Book Spring/Summer 2023)” from November 3-6, 2022 at the 8th floor ICON Art and Cultural Space.

The launch included a display of Thai fabric trends and directions as well as scholarly talks on "Promoting and Developing the Image of Thai Fabrics to be International for the Year 2022" along with exhibiting trends and directions and costume designs with Thai fabrics.

Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya graced ICONSIAM to preside over the book launch celebration and academic seminar on November 3, 2022.

Thai Textiles Trend Book is a compilation of knowledge regarding Thai fabrics and international fashion trends in a book that suggests fashion and design trends for Thai materials and Thai fabric-based costumes. Thai Textiles Trend Book Spring/Summer 2023 can be used for the benefit of designers, weavers, communities and experts in all professions.

Thai Textiles Trend Book Spring/Summer 2023 reflects the concept of “Moving Culture”. Cultural movement and identity are exchanged in each settlement on the canvas, as inspired by the summer atmosphere of Thailand.  Studies were conducted along with wisdom works and handicrafts, reflecting the concept of various types of Thai fabrics that come from other cultures. This shows the immutable nature of culture such as "Pha Khao Ma" and "Batik" with a gradual and ongoing exchange of local identities; an illustration of the cross-cultural interaction that occurs in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Under the concept of "Moving Culture", there are five trends: Dream Catcher, Expressive Exotic, Vibrant Variegations, Civilization of the New World (Neo-Tribes), and Miracle of Nature (Natural Extraction). These show the colours, shapes, details and materials that help develop Thai handicrafts so that they keep up with contemporary culture and global sustainability trends. Contemporary culture is explored in different perspectives and dimensions along with development of techniques, methods and textile fabrics from traditional patterns of each locality upgraded to international standards.

Limited edition creations were on display at the event outlining the season's five primary themes and fashion trends. In particular, the colour tones used emphasise the diversity of shades with different colour tones from the original. Artists, designers, weavers and communities use this in a variety of ways and have more dimensions to use colours, starting with the "Moving Culture" concept.

The employment of certain colour tones attracts attention to more varied tints. An artist’s alternative colour tone from the original adds more dimensions and can be used by designers, weavers and communities in a number of ways. Presented by the SIRIVANNAVARI BANGKOK brand, these five trends are based on the notion of shifting culture.

All five trends consist of the dimension of dreams presented by the brands VINN PATARIN and WISHARAWISH, giving a cross-cultural identity. Presented by the brands THEATER and KLOSET, the imperfections flourish. With the brand EK THONGPRASERT and RENIM PROJECT, a new world civilization unfolds as with the brands ISSUE and ARCHIVE026. Finally, a miracle of nature is presented by the brands ASAVA and TANDT.

We cordially invite everyone to the exhibition, publication of Volume 3 of the Thai Textiles Trend Book, Spring/Summer 2023 on the trends and directions of Thai fabrics and costume design with Thai fabrics, and academic seminars under the heading "Promoting and Developing the Image of Thai Fabrics to Be International for the Year 2022" from November 3-6, 2022 at the 8th floor ICON Art and Cultural Space.
