ufo-shaped clouds shrouding vietnam mountain picture 1

These images have gone viral on social media in recent times, drawing plenty of attention from net citizens.

The recent weather causes white clouds to appear around the peak of Ba Den Mountain, creating a unique shape in the blue sky.

Some online users also humorously described the image of clouds as giant mushrooms or UFOs. Do Vinh Quan, the person who captured the image, said the site looked at its most beautiful on the morning of November 24, he shared.

According to a representative of the Hanoi Astronomical Society, the natural phenomenon is known as lenticular clouds.

Lenticular clouds are stationary clouds which mostly form in the troposphere, typically in parallel alignment to the wind direction. They are often comparable in appearance to a lens or saucer, whilst nacreous clouds which form in the lower stratosphere sometimes have lenticular shapes.

Standing at 986 metres above sea level, Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh has been dubbed the roof of southern Vietnam. Viewed from a distance, the mountain can stand out in the blue sky and is sometimes hidden behind clouds and fog.

From the base to the top of the mountain, visitors can stop and explore temples, pagodas, and towers, with local architecture – a mix of Buddhist and folklore culture - that attracts millions of visitors each year.
