GONZALES, La. (WAFB) - Several arrests have been made in connection to a deadly shooting at Fuel Smart on South Burnside Avenue in Gonzales, according to police.

Jamal “MAL” Holloway, 18, was arrested on Friday, Nov. 25, for his alleged involvement in the shooting on Friday, Nov. 11, according to officials. They added he faces a charge of principal to second-degree murder.

The Gonzales Police Department said Holloway was taken into custody at a home in Sorrento. They said neighbors witnessed Holloway and two others climbing through a bedroom window known to be that of a juvenile. Holloway and the two others were quickly taken into custody, according to Gonzales police.

According to authorities, Holloway is one of three arrests made so far in connection with the shooting. Authorities do not plan to release the names of the other arrested individuals because of their age.

Mekhi Darville, 17, was killed in the shooting incident on Friday, Nov. 11, according to the Gonzales Police Department. They added that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing social media feud between two groups of juveniles.

According to police, Darville drove a vehicle that contained one of the groups as passengers. However, police said Darville was not involved in the feud and was an innocent bystander in the shooting.
