Broncos' Russell Wilson admits he has to play better

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has pointed fingers only at himself for what's quickly become a season to forget. 

"First of all, I have to play better," Wilson admitted during his Wednesday press conference, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "I’ve got to find ways to make some more plays for us, more touchdowns. And it’s something that you continue to work for every day. You focus on the little things, the fundamentals, the little things of the game.

"I’ve been down before. It doesn’t mean that we can’t come out on the other end of it all." 

Wilson joined the Broncos from the Seattle Seahawks via a blockbuster trade executed in March and later put pen to paper on a five-year extension that could be worth $245 million and that includes $165 million guaranteed. While Wilson helped his new team begin the season at 2-1, the Broncos have since fallen to 3-6 as the 33-year-old has produced the worst campaign, to date, of his career. 

According to ESPN stats, Wilson begins Week 11 28th among eligible quarterbacks with an 81.4 passer rating, 27th with a 33.0 total QBR and 34th with a 57.4% completion percentage. In eight games (he dealt with a hamstring issue last month), Wilson has 1,980 passing yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions. 

Additionally, Wilson has also routinely been mocked by fans and analysts, alike, for his "Broncos Country, let’s ride" catchphrase and for what some have deemed to be cringe-worthy off-the-field antics. 

"We’ve got to play at the highest level and we’ve got to play at the highest level each day in practice," Wilson added on Wednesday while also reminding everybody that there's still "a lot of football left" between now and Week 18. 

Wilson and the Broncos presumably will have a decent chance of winning when they host the 2-7 Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday.
