One of the most-anticipated animated films of the year is coming to just three Central Florida movie theaters for a few days before Thanksgiving. But if you want to see it, you’ll have to act fast.

From Nov. 17-22 only, “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” will be showing at Regal The Loop in Orlando, as well as Regal Oviedo Mall, AmStar in Lake Mary, and Epic Theaters in Clermont, for a handful of screenings as part of a very limited theatrical release for the film before its Netflix debut on Dec. 9.

The stop motion film, directed by del Toro and Mark Gustafson (“Fantastic Mr. Fox”) adapts the classic tale of Pinocchio about a wooden puppet who comes to life and dreams of becoming a real boy. The tone of the story will be darker than the Disney movie many associate with the character.

The film has long been a passion project for del Toro, who said in 2018 when the film was first announced, “No art form has influenced my life and my work more than animation and no single character in history has had as deep of a personal connection to me as Pinocchio … I’ve wanted to make this movie for as long as I can remember.”

The film is co-written by del Toro and Patrick McHale from “Over the Garden Wall.” Ewan McGregor stars as the voice of Jimminy Cricket with Gregory Mann voicing the title character. David Bradley, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson and Burn Gorman round out the A-list voice cast.
