COLUMBIA, S.C. – Tennessee senior linebacker Jeremy Banks will not play against South Carolina.

Banks did not make the trip. A Tennessee spokesperson said his absence was due to injury. But after the game, coach Josh Heupel only said that Banks was unavailable and that he hoped to get him back against Vanderbilt.

Banks, a preseason All-SEC selection, is one of the Vols' best defenders. He ranks second on the team with 46 tackles this season, along with four tackles-for-loss, eight quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 10 games.

No. 5 Tennessee (9-1, 5-1 SEC) will play South Carolina (6-4, 3-4) at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
