Florida State quarterback Chris Weinke won the 2000 Heisman Memorial Trophy.

Weinke guided the Seminoles to the 1999 BCS national championship and the 2000 BCS national championship game.

Oklahoma and quarterback Josh Heupel defeated Florida State and the Seminoles, 13-2, in the 2000 BCS national championship game.

Heupel finished as a runner-up to Weinke in the 2000 Heisman Memorial Trophy voting results.

Purdue quarterback Drew Brees and TCU running back LaDainian Tomlinson joined Heupel and Weinke at the Heisman Memorial Trophy ceremony in New York, New York on Dec. 9, 2000.
