After several weeks of price increases, the average cost per gallon of gas dipped by 10 cents just ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

After several weeks of price increases, the average cost per gallon of gas dipped by 10 cents just ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The average price on Sunday was $3.46 a gallon, according to the weekly briefing from AAA The Auto Club Group, and that number could continue to drop.

It’s a welcome decline with as many as 2.7 million Floridians hitting the road for the holiday weekend, said AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins.

"Prices at the pump are likely to drop through the holiday weekend,” Jenkins said in his weekly briefing. “Gas prices could ultimately fall 20-30 cents per gallon. The downturn is being driven by strong refinery output, which led to a big gain in gasoline supplies."
