North Carolina Sheriff Issues Curfew Following Power Outages Caused by Vandalism of Substations

The Moore County Sheriff’s office in North Carolina issued a curfew following power outages caused by vandalism of power stations in the county on Saturday, December 3.

The sheriff’s office said a state of emergency had been declared, and the curfew would stay in place as long as the emergency remained in effect.

Several areas across Moore County experienced power outages on December 3 after “intentional vandalism” had occurred at multiple utility sites across the county, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to Poweroutage.us data, around 34,000 customers were without power on Monday afternoon.

At a press conference on December 4, Moore County sheriff Ronnie Fields said that shots had been fired on Duke Energy substations during a targeted attack.
