A Norfolk farm shop, which also has its own restaurant and cheese room, has been shortlisted for two national awards.

The Goat Shed in Honingham was opened by Sam Steggles at Fielding Cottage in early 2021 in response to rising demand for local produce during the pandemic.

The shop also sells Fielding Cottage's own award-winning goat's cheeses, which can be purchased in the recently-refurbished cheese room and deli.

It has been shortlisted for Rising Star, which celebrates newcomers to the industry, and Small Farm Shop of the Year, for places with turnover under £1.5 million, at the Farm Retail Association 2023 Awards.

Rupert Evans, chairman of the Farm Retail Association, said: "Our industry has faced soaring costs – not least within the food chain and the energy prices.

"This year, of all years, we need some good news and time for celebration."

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on March 7.
