VAN BUREN, N.Y. -- The Van Buren neighborhood was dark and quiet Thursday morning when an SUV pulled up to a Cross Country Drive home.
The driver of the light-colored SUV braked near a car parked outside of the home at 4:19 a.m., a surveillance video shows. Then, seconds later, someone inside the vehicle fired a BB gun at the parked car and cracked a window before speeding away. The pop, pop, pop, pop of the gun was audible in the surveillance video.
Matt Langdon said he was asleep when his car was damaged. The incident was captured on his home surveillance camera. The BB gun was fired in the direction of where his children sleep, he said.
Neighbors of Landon’s also woke up Thursday and discovered their vehicle windows had been shot by a BB gun.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating complaints on Fishermans Creek, Silversides Way and Cross Country Drive, said Sgt. Jon Seeber, sheriff’s office spokesman. The New York State Police are also investigating at least half a dozen similar complaints in the area, he said.
The incidents all happened around 4 a.m. Thursday, Seeber said.
Aside from the vehicle captured by Langdon’s surveillance camera, no suspect information is available, he said.
