Jimmy Butler And Kevin Hart Once Had A $10,000 Shooting Contest
Rich Storry-USA TODAY Sports

Jimmy Butler took on the challenge of beating Kevin Hart in a 3-point contest a few years ago, but was he successful?

Jimmy Butler is one of the most interesting characters in the NBA, often doing things just for himself without caring about what others may think. This attitude of his made him unlikable by many for years until he ended up in Miami, where his work ethic spoke for itself, and he became a treasured superstar in the franchise that once boasted Shaquille O'Neal, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade.

Kevin Hart is always in the NBA world due to his love for the game and friendships with players. Butler is one of the people Hart knows well, and they once had a 3-point shooting contest. The first to make 5 threes would win in a best-of-seven series. Hart came out swinging with an early 2-0 lead, but Jimmy Butler came storming back to win the contest 4-3.

Butler isn't regarded as the best shooter, so Hart taking him the distance shouldn't be surprising. However, Butler did take a while to lock in as he lost the first two rounds and even air-balled so badly that he hit the cameraman near the basket. A win is a win, and Butler walked out with the W.

Jimmy Butler Hoping To Lead A Miami Heat Resurgence

Butler's time with the Heat is quite conflicting. They seem to struggle one out of 2 years, with his first year leading to an NBA Finals appearance and his second year leading to a first-round sweep loss at the hand of the Milwaukee Bucks (a team they beat in the 2020 playoffs).

They rebounded from the 2021 playoffs loss by becoming the No. 1 seed and narrowly losing a Game 7 to the Boston Celtics. However, this season has been rough as the Heat are fighting to stay .500 and make the playoffs without the play-in. They are currently the 8th seed and tied with the 7th-seeded Indiana Pacers.

There have been significant roster concerns with the Heat, who don't have good depth beyond their incredible collection of undrafted talent. Trades need to be made to improve the roster so that Butler can do what he does in the playoffs and lead the Heat closer to their achievements from last year.
