East Side Pub & Grill is nearing completion at 2178 N. Prospect Ave., the former home of Seoul Korean restaurant.

A new seafood and soul food restaurant plans to open on the east side, taking the space of the former Seoul Korean restaurant, which closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

East Side Pub & Grill, 2178 N. Prospect Ave., is aiming for a March opening date, according to owners Wanda Smith and her nephew Kyrie Smith.

"We've been cooking together for 20 years," Kyrie said. "We saw the opportunity in the neighborhood I grew up in, and it's a great location."

He said the restaurant, which seats a little more than 50 customers, will have a menu of chicken, fish and burgers.

They will have soul food Sundays with lamb chops, meatloaf, pot roast, greens, cornbread and more, along with Seafood specials and a Friday fish fry.

The restaurant applied for a liquor license and plans to serve cocktails, beer and wine.
