Trump rally watch live: Donald in Arizona after Ivana’s death delayed fiery speech

Trump postponed the rally for Kari Lake and Blake Masters due to his first wife’s passing

Former President Donald Trump is holding a “Save America” rally in Prescott Valley, Arizona, Friday to stump for his preferred candidates ahead of the state’s GOP primaries.

The event, which is taking place at the Findlay Toyota Center, was postponed after Ivana Trump, the former president’s first wife, died last week. The rescheduling caused Trump’s rally to compete against former Vice President Mike Pence, who campaigned in the Grand Canyon state Friday for opposing GOP candidates, including Republican gubernatorial hopeful Karrin Taylor Robson. Robson, a lawyer and housing developer with strong establishment Republican ties, is up against Trump-endorsed candidate Kari Lake, a local TV news anchor and staunch election denier.

Lake is scheduled to speak at Trump’s Friday rally as one of his opening acts. Trump will also be joined by Senate hopeful Blake Masters, who is also facing a competitive primary.

The rally will be “a continuation of President Trump’s unprecedented effort to advance the MAGA agenda by energizing voters and highlighting America First candidates and causes,” Trump’s Save America PAC, which organizes the former president’s events, said in a statement.

Trump ends speech on uplifting note

The former president wrapped up the rally with a positive message, saying: “My fellow citizens, this incredible journey we are on together has only just begun and it is time to start talking about greatness, greatness, greatness for our country again. We are one movement, one people, one family, and one glorious American nation. So with the help of everyone here today and the citizens all across our land, we will make America powerful again, we will make America wealthy again, we will make America strong again, we will make America proud again, we will make America safe again, and we America great again. Thank you, Arizona.”

Trump calls Sen. Richard Burr an ‘insider trader’

Former President Donald Trump briefly took a jab at Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) over the accusations he faced of insider trading at the outset of the coronavirus pandemic, when markets crashed at the start of global lockdowns.

Trump mentioned the retiring Republican while discussing his handling of the Russia collusion investigation in the Senate, where he was chairman of the Intelligence Committee before the stocks scandal.

Discussing his son, Donald Trump Jr., the former president said he testifed for “I think 28 hours before a committee headed up by somebody that was a Republican, who perhaps is an inside trader.”

“I don’t know what the hell is gonna happen to Burr,” the elder Trump continued. “But headed up by Burr, [the committee spent] many, many, many hours asking him about nothing.”

Blake Masters: Hillary Clinton winning in 2016 would’ve been ‘end of this republic’

“I knew that Biden-Harris was going to be bad,” the Arizona Senate hopeful said. “You knew that Biden-Harris was going to be bad. But I’ll be honest, I’m shocked at how quickly they’ve been able to deliver all this chaos and destruction.”

“But here’s the thing, if we’re suffering this badly, after not even two years of Biden-Harris imagine how bad things would be if we were right now in year six of a Hillary Clinton regime,” he continued. “I think after six years that Hillary Clinton, that might be game over. I think that literally would have been the end of this republic, and Donald J. Trump saved us from that fate.”

Trump calls Kelly’s wife, former Rep. Gabby Giffords, ‘very nice’

“I know he’s married to a very nice woman,” Trump said, referencing former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ), who was shot in the head in a 2011 attack. “But he’s just not doing a good job and Arizona is suffering because of it. So remember that, remember that this November. We’re going to vote Mark Kelly out of office”

Giffords, who became a gun control advocate after recovering from her injuries, was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Joe Biden earlier this month.

Trump slams Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly

Trump took aim at Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), who Blake Masters hopes to unseat if he wins his primary.

“Mark Kelly has completely betrayed the people of Arizona, refusing to lift a finger to secure your border. He’s so bad on the border, he doesn’t even talk about it,” he told the crowd, prompting boos. “And on the contrary, doing everything possible to turn Arizona into a cesspool of crime, drugs, and illegal immigration.”

“Mark Kelly is also culpable for the runaway inflation that is crushing Arizona families,” he continued. “He voted in favor of all Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi’s lunatic socialist spending bills, and he voted to support Biden’s war on American Energy.”

Trump: GOP-controlled House should pass federal funding to hire police

The former president called for Republicans to pass legislation after the midterms to fund the hiring of thousands of law enforcement amid nationwide spikes in crime.

“Under a Republican Congress, we should pass emergency funding to hire thousands more police officers, which we’ll be doing nationwide to put violent criminals behind bars and keep them behind bars,” Trump said to cheers from the audience. “Leave our police alone.”

Trump slams Doug Ducey for handling of border crisis

The former president took aim at Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey, a personal friend and political ally of former Vice President Mike Pence. Both Ducey and Pence spent Friday campaigning around the state for establishment gubernatorial candidate, Karrin Taylor Robson.

“When we retake Congress, among our highest priorities must be to end the nightmare Joe Biden has created on our southern border,” Trump said. “And your governor, Doug Ducey, has done absolutely nothing to help. Talk about a RINO. He’s all talk and no action.”

“And you’ll see what can happen when Kari Lake becomes your governor,” he continued. “It’ll be like day and night.”

Trump: The U.S. is a ‘beggar for energy’

“Instead of being proudly energy independent, which we were just two years ago, we were energy independent. We were even energy dominant,” Trump said. “The United States is now a beggar for energy. We’re a beggar for energy. It’s crazy. It’s crazy to think of it.”

Trump says Biden created the least safe border worldwide

“We created the safest border in the history of our country,” Trump told the crowd. “And now we have the most unsafe border in the history of our country. And I believe in the history of the world, because I really believe that no country, a third world country doesn’t have a border like we have. There’s never been anything like it and you’re talking about millions and millions of people coming in unvetted coming in from jails from 141 different countries.”

Trump slams Biden on immigration, gas prices

Trump began his remarks slamming President Joe Biden and his administration’s job performance in power.

“You could take the five worst presidents in American history and put them together and they would not have done the damage Joe Biden has done to our country in less than two short years,” Trump said. “The contrast between the Trump administration’s amazing success and Joe Biden’s breathtaking failure could not be more stark. You see it right here in your state. You see hundreds of thousands of people pouring into your state, hundreds of thousands of people and they have no intention of stopping it. It’s not even believable.”

“Let’s look at some of the facts,” he continued. “Less than two years ago when I was in office, gas, gasoline everything called gasoline now nobody wants to even talk about it was $1.87 a gallon.”

Read Kari Lake’s interview with the Washington Examiner

Who is the real Kari Lake? That’s what voters across Arizona are trying to figure out ahead of the Aug. 2 Republican gubernatorial primary that could change the trajectory of state GOP politics.

The candidate’s former colleagues at a local Fox television station claim Lake is so obsessed with her own fandom that she will do anything to stay relevant, even if that means reversing long-held beliefs and sucking up to former President Donald Trump and the MAGA-verse. Others swear she is the real deal and ready to lead the state.

Tonight’s rally comes the same day that former Vice President Mike Pence endorsed Karrin Taylor Robson, Lake’s closest challenger in Arizona’s Aug. 2 Republican primary for governor. It’s a move that pits Pence against Trump in yet another closely watched state race that’s turned into a full-blown proxy war and could change the way the GOP strategizes ahead of the general elections in November.

The Republican gubernatorial primary winner in November will face Democratic nominee-in-waiting Katie Hobbs, Arizona’s secretary of state and a frequent Trump target in his false assertions about malfeasance in how the 2020 elections were administrated in the state.

Lake told the Washington Examiner she couldn’t care less whom Pence or Ducey endorsed and is wearing their disapproval like a badge of honor.

“There was a little part of me that was like, ‘Oh, I hope Gov. Ducey doesn’t try to punk me and endorse me,'” she said. “He’s not liked. He’s [one of] the least liked Republican governors in the country.”

Lake takes aim at the news industry

Lake bashed the “corporate news media” to cheers from the crowd. She asked how many in the audience no longer watched mainstream news platforms, sparking more applause.

The far-right gubernatorial hopeful pointed out low ratings among local stations in Arizona, and said it was a result of media “dividing the country” and destroying trust with viewers.

“We are bringing people together through our ideas,” she continued. “And they’re paying attention to us.”

Lake credits the rise of the MAGA movement to moms

Lake said Trump’s MAGA movement really took off when the Left “went after” mothers, going on to reference when parents who protested school boards were referred to as “domestic terrorists” in a letter from the Justice Department.

“I actually think that was the stupidest thing they ever did, you know why? It was the biggest mistake because they came after us moms,” Lake began. “And, and the effect of what happened was that drove us straight over into the MAGA movement, where they care about our families and kids.”

Lake then went into her firm belief that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

“And we got all the moms trust me. We’ve got the suburban moms out there. We’ve got the city moms and we got the rural moms and they are all with us. Each and every one of them because when momma goes MAGA it is game over, it’s game over. It’s game over for the cartels. It is game over for the swamp rats and it is game over for the RINOs and the radicals,” she said. “And it’s really, really game over for the spineless politicians who stood by and they didn’t do a damn thing for us. Then they sat there. They did nothing as our elections were stolen from us. How dare they.”

“They did nothing as our border was overrun, and they did nothing as our kids were being masked. And we’re gonna remember the so called leaders. We will not forget them. They didn’t stand up for us. They didn’t stand up for us. I’ll tell you one thing: to those people and they know who they are: you will not be forgotten, and you will never be forgiven.”

Masters mocks Sen. Mark Kelly as ‘out of touch’

“Mark Kelly is completely disconnected from what life is like here on planet Earth,” Blake Masters said, making reference to the Senate Democrat’s career as an astronaut. “He’s just out of touch.”

“Here on Earth in America, out of control inflation, means that your gas and your groceries and your rent just keep going up and up and up. Here on Earth in America, out of control illegal immigration just means worse and worse.”

He then referenced the recent arrest of a 27-year-old Guatemalan illegal immigrant for the rape of a 10-year-old girl in Ohio, whose travel to obtain an abortion attracted national attention.

Blake Masters, the venture capitalist and former Thiel Capital executive, took the stage and immediately began bashing Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), who he hopes to unseat if he wins the GOP primary.
