Landlord Steph, who posts online as @stephadiy, recently made a 'nightmare' discovery at her rental home after she received complaints of a 'foul smell'.

The content creator went to her property to investigate after she evicted the tenant due to a series of complaints made about him by her other tenants.

One of the main disputes was that there was a "really bad smell" wafting from the tenant's bedroom - and when she went inside she realised why.

Steph posted about the ordeal on her TikTok platform, with the clip gaining over 62,000 views since it was posted on January 7.

In the video, she said: "I've had some issues with this tenant and I've had to kick them out.

"I've had complaints from the other tenants, but also there's been a really bad smell coming from this room for a while now."

As Steph flips the camera to expose the bedroom, viewers can see filthy plates, bowls, mugs, and cutlery items piled high on the tenant's desk, with some even stuffed into drawers in the room.

However, this wasn't the worst of it as the landlord had also found several large refuse bags full of rubbish and old food delivery bags stuffed into the wardrobe, the Daily Star reports.

She asked in the caption: "Gross, disgusting, how do people live like this???"

Viewers were left shocked at the state of the room with many taking to the comments to shame the tenant for leaving the property in a poor condition.

One user asked: "That’s disgusting, I’d be charging a cleaning fee."

Another wrote: "OMG! Who puts dirty plates INSIDE DRAWERS?"

A third commented: "Why didn’t they take things to the bin??"

Other users in the comments section warned that the individual may have been suffering from mental health problems as issues such as depression can result in a lack of basic hygiene.

One commenter asked: "Me being the kind-headed person I am and wondering how bad they were mentally to leave it like this.

"Like what was their internal struggle?"

Another argued: "They’re either not in a good place or just a scruff. "Unfortunately, unless you take the time to talk to them you won’t ever know."
