Officers were called to Lafayette Street after receiving reports of gunshots and persons running from 182 Lafayette Street.

Officers found the door to an apartment partially open and Taylor lying on the living room couch with gunshot wounds, according to Metro police. Taylor was taken Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died a short time later.

Detectives are pursuing active leads as they work to identify the persons in the apartment at the time Taylor was shot.

Taylor was wearing an ankle monitor and was free on bond after his arrest last May on charges of carjacking and felony cocaine possession, according to a release. Detectives will look into whether those circumstances had any relation to this homicide.
