Police force presents bursary awards for 2021, 2022

Approximately five hundred children of policemen and women were on Wednesday presented with bursaries for their academic achievement for the years 2021 and 2022 at the National Grade Six examinations.

The event was held at the Police Officers’ Mess Annexe at Eve Leary.

A release from the police said that first prize winners for the years 2021 and 2022 were awarded to Kelsey Vyphuis, who gained 513 marks, and Abshiek Cyril, who scored 512 marks. Kelsey and Abshiek were awarded $210,000 each.

Second-place winners for the years 2021 and 2022, respectively, were awarded to Azaryah Sampson, who gained 508 marks and was awarded Bishops’ High School, and Kaelian Humphrey, who attained 510 marks and gained access to Queen’s College Secondary School. They were both awarded $185,000 each.

Third-place winners for the years 2021 and 2022 were: Atalya John, who gained 506 marks at the National Grade Six Examinations and was awarded a place at Bishops’ High School, and Shaeem Bechnie and DeShawn Gurrick, who tied for the year 2022 with both gaining 509 marks and acquiring spots at Queen’s College. Atalya, Shaeem and DeShawn were awarded $160,000 each.
