A group Mattapan students brutally jumped another student and the teacher walking her home outside the Young Achievers Science And Math Pilot School after school Wednesday, according to details in a Boston Police report.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by this news,” a BPS spokesperson said in a statement after the incident. “All Boston Public Schools community members deserve to feel safe and free from bullying and violence.”

Police said they responded to a report of a fight outside the school at 20 Outlook Road around 3:30 p.m. The call at the time noted a school staff member was unconscious and on the ground.

Upon arrival, the teacher and a student were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another staff member explained to police the teacher was walking the student home after classes ended, the report said.

As they left campus, two to three females jumped and began assaulting the pair, according to witnesses accounts.

Three female student were seen repeatedly punching the teacher as she lay on the ground shielding the student with her body. One student was seen jumping off a ledge and kicking at the teacher.

Both victims sustained several blows to the head and face while on the ground, the report said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the report noted police are searching for the students involved.

BPS thanked school staff, BPS Safety Services and Boston Police for their “quick response” in the statement and committed to ensuring students have “access to the social-emotional support they need” following the incident.

“We will not tolerate any forms of violence or aggression within our community,” the statement continued. “This incident is still under investigation, and to protect the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of those involved, we cannot comment further.”
