Gov. Dan McKee's comfortable reelection last year didn't significantly change his popularity, according to a new online poll that says he remains the fourth least popular governor in the country.

The poll from Morning Consult showed 47% of Rhode Island voters approved of the job McKee was doing in the fourth quarter of last year and 40% disapproved. That's the same 47% approval rating Morning Consult gave McKee in the third quarter of last year, when his disapproval rate was 38%.

McKee was reelected in November with 58% of the vote.

Like predecessor Gina Raimondo, McKee has gotten poor results in Morning Consult's surveys. Between April and June he had the lowest approval rating in the country.

Republican governors in Democratic leaning states continue to dominate the Morning Consult approval ratings. Gov. Phil Scott of Vermont posted an 81% approval rating, the highest in the nation.

In his final months in office, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker's approval rating was 73%. He did not run for reelection and was replaced by Democrat Maura Healey.

Gov. Kate Brown of Oregon was the least popular governor in the fourth quarter, with 40% approval.

A separate Morning Consult online poll, found 58% of Rhode Island voters approved of the job Sen. Jack Reed is doing, the 10th highest approval rating in the nation.

Fifty-one percent of voters approved of the job Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse is doing. Whitehouse is up for reelection in 2024.
