NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a downtown Nashville hotel.

Police said the murder-suicide happened Monday afternoon at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on 4th Avenue North. The victims are believed to be a boyfriend and girlfriend from Shelby County, Tennessee.

Officials said 31-year-old Geremy Causey was found with a semi-automatic pistol near him and had injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His 45-year-old girlfriend, Irene Bond, was also found fatally shot, according to officials.

Metro Police said the hotel room access card was last used at 3 a.m. on Sunday morning. A hotel staff member discovered the pair at 2:30 p.m. the next day.

It was a scene dozens of Double Tree hotel guests like Tana Wright saw.

“We get here and we’re like, oh wow what are these flashing lights for,” Wright said.

Wright was coming from California and said she thought they were filming a movie at first.

“Surprise, surprise, we get here and it’s a crime scene,” Wright said.

After hearing the news, some hotel guests like Mykia Daniels had them rethinking their stay.

“I really don’t know right now,” Daniels said. “I’m just shocked.”

Daniels added they were a little nervous and a little scared.

While crime scene investigators and medical examiners comb through the scene, Wright said her heart breaks for the lives lost.

“It’s just a sad situation, it always is,” said Wright. “Somebody killing someone is always terribly, even when you kill yourself it’s terrible for the family and you never know the story behind it.”
