Metro police launch homicide investigation after man found dead in car behind North Nashville home

Metro Nashville police launched a third homicide investigation in one day after a 42-year-old Demarcus A. Mallory was found dead in a parked car behind a vacant North Nashville home.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of 15th Avenue North about 11:40 p.m. Monday after neighbors reported a suspicious vehicle with its lights on, MNPD said. The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu had been there for several hours and gunshots were reportedly heard in the area between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., police said.

Police say Mallory was found unconscious in the driver's seat with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the case.

Metro police are also in the process of investigating an apparent murder, suicide that occurred at a downtown Nashville hotel. A 22-year-old man was also shot to death in a Bellevue apartment robbery Monday afternoon.
