UK's ugliest dog Peggy enjoys luxurious pampering treatment as a prize for the title

Yorkshire pup Peggy, given the prestigious title of ugliest dog in Britain earlier this year, has received her prize of a makeover and pamper session at a luxurious doggie spa.

The pug and Chinese crested crossbreed won the nation's heart after beating seven other furry friends to win the regional title - and she has become an overnight sensation, appearing on the likes of ITV's This Morning and BBC Breakfast.

Now, owner Holly Middleton has taken her adopted pup to receive her prize of a day dedicated to giving her a big makeover. Holly said that Peggy has "loved every second", and that she has been "absolutely lapping up all of the fuss and attention."

She proudly continued, "The makeover was fabulous and Peggy was treated like an absolute queen. What little hair she has is extremely soft and fluffy and she smells divine, which is rare. She’s been absolutely spoiled rotten but she 100% deserves it."

The treatments included a luxury hydrobath followed by a blueberry facial. After a huge cleanse, Peggy was then hand dried and had a little trim, finishing the treatment with a paw and nose balm treatment and a little spray of fragrance, to ensure she smells just as good as she looks.

Peggy will now go on to get her photograph taken professionally for the second part of her prize, a canvas print portrait from the competition organisers Parrot Print. After great success of the light-hearted competition, the organisers are also considering multinational submissions for a 'world's ugliest dog'.
