Cary Institute and WAMC debut new environment radio show

On January 2nd, WAMC Northeast Public Radio and the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies will debut a new radio show called Earth Wise: A look at our changing environment. The collaboration was formed to increase ecological literacy among radio listeners, with a focus on raising awareness about the science that underpins environmental issues.

The two-minute segments will air Monday through Friday at 11:10 AM and 4:04 PM on WAMC. With the Earth as its subject, Earth Wise content will be globally relevant. New topics will be featured daily, with coverage on climate change, energy, sustainable living, agriculture, and threats to air, water, and wildlife. Each segment will also highlight how individuals can make a difference.

Cary Institute President and noted scientist Dr. Bill Schlesinger will act as the narrator for Earth Wise. Using accessible language, and drawing on commentary from national experts, he will guide listeners through the science and policy of leading environmental concerns. "Our goal is to inspire listeners to make informed decisions about environmental issues facing society," notes Dr. Schlesinger. Adding, "Each listener has the capacity to be a positive change in the world."
