Positively NJ: New book details the life and downfall of retailer ‘Crazy Eddie’

If you lived in New Jersey or New York in the 1980s, it would be hard to forget “Crazy Eddie.”
The retail electronics chain was famous for its loud and goofy commercials featuring radio DJ-turned-pitchman Jerry Carroll waving and hamming it up and in his turtleneck or Santa suit. The commercials usually ended with the famous line, "Crazy Eddie - his prices are insane!"
As the years passed, however, Crazy Eddie became well known for the fraud and other illegal activities that permeated nearly every aspect of the publicly traded company and eventually landed founder Eddie Antar in prison.
On today's episode of "Brian's Positively New Jersey,” Brian Donohue speaks with Gary Weiss, author of a new book about the Crazy Eddie saga, titled "Retail Gangster - The Insane Real-Life Story of Crazy Eddie." It's a look back at one of the wildest white-collar crime cases in New Jersey history.
